Year 7

In Year 7, learners are introduced to basic dramatic techniques and devices.  They are given the opportunity to apply their knowledge and understanding across a range of topics.  These include The Haunted House, ‘Blood Brothers’ and Once Upon a Time.
 
They also have the opportunity to study and perform extracts two different play texts.  These are ‘Blood Brothers’ by Willy Russell and ‘Grimm Tales’ by Carol Ann Duffy.
 
Drama in Year 7 is studied for 1 hour per week and is taught in mixed ability groupings.  Independent homework projects accompany each unit of study and allow pupils to select activities that extend their understanding of topics taught in the practical workshops.

 

Year 8

Year 8 Drama allows pupils to revise techniques taught in Year 7 as well as learn about new concepts.  Learners are encouraged to work with a variety of their peers whilst exploring a number of topics such as Leaving Home, Detectives, Cyberbully and A Sinister World.
 
They have the opportunity to study extracts from three play texts.  These are ‘Stone Cold’ by Joe Standerline, ‘Chatroom’ by Edna Walsh and ‘The Woman in Black’ by Stephen Mallatratt.
 
Drama in Year 8 is studied for 1 hour per week and is taught in mixed ability groupings.  Independent homework projects accompany each unit of study and allow pupils to select activities that extend their understanding of topics taught in the practical workshops.
