It is absolutely essential that every student at Diss High knows that they have a voice in the running of the school and that it is heard. The School Council is one forum for this. It operates at a whole school level and a year group level. Each tutor group is represented by two students, a boy and a girl, who consult with their form. Regular contact has been made between the School Council and South Norfolk District Council. The School Council has organised a litter pick in the centre of Diss on an annual basis. This resulted in receiving the Diana Award for services to the community.

Every year, there is also a student questionnaire. This has moved to an online survey called PASS – Pupil Attitudes to Self and School – which all members of Years 7 – 11 fill in. This gives all stakeholders of the school feedback to inform future improvement.
The Head Boy and Head Girl plus their Deputies, meet regularly with the Headteacher to discuss whole school issues. The Sixth Form Committee also meet regularly with the Director of the Sixth Form.
Senior Prefects run other important committees: Mentoring, Social and Community, Fundraising, School Council Development.
